Each of us serves as an ambassador for the Lord. Ministry is the work we do for the glory of God in light of where He has placed us, in light of how He has endowed us, and in light of what He has called us to accomplish in His infinite wisdom and for the spread of the gospel. Volunteering one's own time, energy, and resources in order to bless and aid others is at the heart of ministry. The preacher's rallying cry is "someone's got to do it, might as well be me." Ministry work is where we'll experience the most happiness and satisfaction.
